GOVERNOR TO PLACE RESTRICTIONS ON REGION 8 – “MASK FOR US”
The Governor’s office and IDPH announced that Region 8 (DuPage and Kane Counties) will be placed on more restrictions starting at 12:01am this Friday, October 23 to mitigate the increase in positivity. The trigger was three consecutive days of positivity rates at or above 8% in the Region. All but two of our restaurants are in Cook County and will not be impacted by the announcement.
The Region 8 mitigation measures include:
• All bars and restaurants close at 11pm and may reopen no earlier than 6am
• No indoor food or bar service; all patrons should be seated at tables outside
• No ordering, seating, or congregating at bar (bar stools should be removed)
• Tables must be 6 feet apart
• No standing or congregating indoors or outdoors while waiting for a table or exiting; reservations required for each party and multiple parties at one table is not permitted
• No dancing or standing indoors
• Meetings and social events limited to lesser of 25 guests or 25% of overall room capacity both indoors and outdoors
To repeat, while Burr Ridge is located in both DuPage and Cook Counties, the Governor and IDPH mitigation measures affect businesses located in DuPage County – not in our Downtown. All Downtown businesses and restaurants are permitted to operate as they have been for the last several months. The mitigation restrictions do not apply to them.
The total case count in Burr Ridge now is 311; up nine since Friday’s Mayor Message. The 14-day active case count since October 9 for the Village overall is 19, which is comparable to the historical number of active cases generally observed in the Village. Burr Ridge is not surging with new cases, but our village positivity numbers are still going in the wrong direction. We have to do better. The Cook County side of Burr Ridge has had 98 total reported cases; DuPage is at 213. While positivity rates have gone up, general hospital and ICU capacity in Region 8 remains within acceptable parameters. Statewide recovery is still at about 97%. If you have a medical emergency, you should feel comfortable knowing that an area hospital will likely have the capacity and equipment needed to provide the necessary care.
The full mitigation measures are available on the Village website at www.burr-ridge.gov.
