Halloween Trick or Treat Safety Tips and Information
In accordance with the NJ Department of Health, trick-or-treating is permitted in the Borough of Mountain Lakes on Halloween--Saturday, October 31st. In order to avoid crowds and large gatherings, the Borough's annual safe zone is cancelled. To help ensure a safe Halloween for all residents, please refer to the attached flyer for guidelines and safe practices:

Residents who do NOT wish to participate in distributing candy, can indicate this by keeping exterior lights off. It is recommended that trick-or-treaters stay in your immediate neighborhood and travel with family or small pods at appropriate social distances. Please wear face coverings in addition to costumes and wash your hands often or use hand sanitizer.
Halloween gatherings should be limited as follows: Indoor gatherings must be limited to 25 people or 25% of a room's capacity – whichever number is lower – and all attendees must wear face coverings and stay six feet apart. Outdoor gatherings must practice social distancing. Avoid large parties, close contact and shared items.
Lastly, please be courteous to fellow residents and don't approach homes too late in the evening while trick-or-treating. As a reminder, Borough Ordinance 99-4 prohibits children under the age of 18 from appearing on the streets, highways, alleys, public parks or public places in the Borough of Mountain Lakes on Halloween between the hours of 10:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. (with specific exemptions). Stay healthy, stay safe and Happy Halloween!
