Advisory

Winter Storm Warning until 04:00AM Friday

...ANOTHER ROUND OF ACCUMULATING SNOW EXPECTED THURSDAY... .Another round of accumulating snow is developing over the plains to produce more heavy snow for Thursday. A strong area of low pressure will develop out of Colorado, leading to the increased chances of accumulating snow. There is the potential for a swath of accumulations between 5 to 7 inches from the Brainerd Lakes region towards Duluth. Some uncertainty remains on the southern edge of the forecast snowfall swath as there will be a transition to a wintry mix or all rain the further southeast you go, so there is the potential for a shift in the location of the heavier snowfall. Some sleet or freezing rain may mix in with the snow at times at this transition zone. Additionally, there may be relatively little snow accumulations along the shoreline of Lake Superior as the lake is still rather warm, so there may be a tight gradient in snowfall amounts along the North Shore to the higher elevations.

* WHAT...Heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 5 to 7 inches.

* WHERE...South Cass, Crow Wing, Northern Aitkin, South Aitkin and Carlton and South St. Louis Counties. This includes the Tribal Lands of the Fond du Lac Band and the Mille Lacs Band, East Lake and, Big Sandy Lake areas.

* WHEN...From 4 AM Thursday to 4 AM CDT Friday.

* IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute.

* AFFECTED AREAS: SOUTH CASS ... SOUTH AITKIN ... NORTHERN AITKIN ... CROW WING ... CARLTON/SOUTH ST. LOUIS
