PG&E has notified the City of Lafayette that a Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) will occur in Lafayette, Moraga, and Orinda beginning Sunday, October 25, 2020, at 4:00 p.m., and lasting through Wednesday morning.
This PSPS event is in response to weather conditions that are forecast in the East Bay between Sunday and Wednesday. If there is no change to the weather forecast, PG&E will begin de-energizing powerlines on Sunday at 4:00 p.m. Once conditions improve, PG&E will inspect and re-energize the affected powerlines. Please plan for a power outage that could last several days. Tips for preparing for a PG&E PSPS event can be found at https://www.lovelafayette.org/residents/pg-e-s-public-safety-power-shutoff-psps.
The Lafayette Police Department will increase neighborhood patrols during this PSPS event. Lafayette Police is working closely with Contra Costa County Fire Protection District, which has deployed additional resources in response to these weather conditions.
