Subject arrested on 3 violations of Attempt Murder and 1 violation of Felony Hit and Run.
Starting in mid-June 2020, a series of 3 separate incidents occurred where a suspect attacked transient individuals by throwing large rocks at their heads, while they were sleeping in the area of 80 E. Hillcrest Drive in Thousand Oaks. During one of these attacks, a victim received injuries requiring medical treatment. After another one of these attacks, a bystander attempted to chase after the suspect on his bicycle, only to be struck by the suspect’s vehicle as the suspect was fleeing the area.
While conducting surveillance in the area of the attacks, East County Major Crimes detectives observed Ali Tehrani, who both matched the suspect’s physical description and had a vehicle matching the suspect’s vehicle. As the investigation progressed, additional evidence was discovered which further indicated Tehrani was the perpetrator of these crimes.
On 10/22/20, detectives located Tehrani in the 1300 block of East Janss Road in Thousand Oaks and took him into custody. Tehrani was booked at the Pre-Trial Detention Facility on 3 violations of 664/187(a) PC (Attempt Murder) and 1 violation of 20001(a) VC (Felony Hit and Run). His bail was set at $500,000 and his court appearance is scheduled for 10/26/20 at 1:30 p.m. in Ventura Superior Courtroom 13.
