REDFLAG in effect through Tuesday morning
National weather has issued Red Flag warnings for several areas of California due to strong and dry north/northeast winds as well as very low humidity’s and dry fuel. Winds are now transitioning, coming out of the northwest in the Napa County higher elevations. This will start to happen soon locally as well. Peak winds in the valleys will occur between 8pm this evening through sunrise Monday morning. Lower elevations can expect wind gusts in the 40-50 mph range. This may result in downed trees and non-PSPS related power failures locally. Stay away from downed power lines!
At mountain peaks tonight winds will gust in the 50-70mph range. Elevations over 1000 feet will also see red flag winds during the Monday overnight into Tuesday morning though not as strong. The red flag warning will remain through Tuesday morning for higher elevations but end tomorrow morning for the valleys.
PG&E will be cutting power to some areas of the County but will not affect anything within Petaluma's City limits. As stated earlier however, downed trees may cause local power outages. There will be several PGE Community Resource Centers set up in the County. One will be in Petaluma at the Plaza North Shopping center. It will be open today 3pm-10pm and tomorrow 8am-10pm.
In the City we’ve upstaffed an extra fire engine for tonight. County-wide there are over 15 extra engines upstaffed through Tuesday morning.
