UPDATE: PG&E Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) in Lafayette to Begin at 8:00 p.m., Sunday, October 25, 2020. Re-energization is Expected Monday Evening

(UPDATED 10-25-20 11:01 a.m. PDT) PG&E has notified the City of Lafayette that a Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) will occur in Lafayette and the surrounding Lamorinda area on Sunday, October 25, 2020. Current information indicates de-energization will occur at 8:00 p.m. Re-energization is expected to begin Monday evening. Please plan for an approximately 24-hour power outage. Tips for preparing for a PG&E PSPS event can be found at https://www.lovelafayette.org/residents/pg-e-s-public-safety-power-shutoff-psps.

PG&E will have two Community Resource Centers (CRC) in Lamorinda. One will be in Lafayette at Our Savior's Lutheran Church at 1035 Carol Lane. The other is located in Moraga at Moraga Valley Presbyterian Church at 10 Moraga Valley Lane. Both locations will be open from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Each location will have snacks, water, device charging, ADA-accessible restroom and washing station, small medical device charging, and Wi-Fi. You can find a full list of county-wide CRC and charging stations here: https://www.contracosta.ca.gov/CivicAlerts.aspx?AID=2450.

In addition, the Lafayette Police Department will have device charging-only available in front of the Police Station at 3471 Mt. Diablo Blvd., in Lafayette. Charging will be available from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., on Monday. Lafayette Police will be providing generator power to several key intersections during this PSPS event to allow for fully functional signal operation. Temporary stop signs and cones will be set up at other intersections. City of Lafayette Public Works will have staff on-duty 24/7 to assist the Police Department with any hazards that arise during the PSPS event. During a power outage, any traffic signals that are not operational should be treated as a four-way stop.

The Lafayette Police Department will increase neighborhood patrols during this PSPS event. Lafayette Police is working closely with Contra Costa County Fire Protection District, which has deployed additional resources in response to these weather conditions.
