Alert
PG&E’s current Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) event in the City of Lafayette will continue until Tuesday, October 27, 2020. Portions of Lafayette will remain without power overnight until such time as PG&E can inspect powerlines for any damage from the severe wind event.
Due to continued high winds in the area, PG&E has been unable to fly helicopters to inspect powerlines. Winds are expected to die down overnight, and PG&E will begin inspections on Tuesday morning, October 27, 2020. Restoration of power will take place on Tuesday following PG&E’s inspection of the powerlines. PG&E has not provided a specific time on Tuesday when full power restoration will be complete.
PG&E will continue to have two Community Resource Centers (CRC) operating in Lamorinda for the duration of the PSPS event. A CRC is located in Lafayette at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, 1035 Carol Lane. A second CRC is located at Moraga Valley Presbyterian Church, 10 Moraga Valley Lane. Both locations will be open from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Each location will have snacks, water, device charging, ADA-accessible restrooms and washing station, small medical device charging, and Wi-Fi.
In addition, the Lafayette Police Department will have device charging available in front of the Police Station at 3471 Mt. Diablo Blvd., Lafayette, on Tuesday, October 27, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Lafayette Police continues to provide generator power to key intersections during this PSPS event to allow for fully functional traffic signal operation. Remember, during a power outage, any traffic signals that are not operational should be treated as a four-way stop. The Lafayette Police Department has increased neighborhood patrols during this PSPS event.
Please visit www.pge.com for the PSPS updates and outage maps.
Please also note that there are no active fires at this time in Contra Costa County. Smoke from a fire in Solano County has, however, drifted into our area.
