Crime Blotter for the Week of October 18-24, 2020

                               
The following is a synopsis of crimes reported for the week of October 18 – October 24, 2020        

October 18, 2020

  • No significant activity.
 
October 19, 2020
  • Robbery(Estes):
A robbery was reported at 2315 Huntington Drive (CVS). At approximately 5:00 pm, a female adult and female juvenile were seen selecting numerous beauty products from the cosmetic aisle and placing the items in a large bag. A store employee approached the females and asked about the merchandise in the bag. The adult female told the employee she was going to take the items and wasn’t going to pay. The employee then attempted to grab the bag and was punched several times in the face. The employee was knocked to the ground and the suspects exited the store. The suspects then attempted to commit a robbery at the CVS in the City of Azusa where they were detained by Azusa Police Department. Deputies responded to the Azusa CVS and arrested both females for robbery. A surveillance video of the incident was available. The estimated loss for both thefts was $400.
  • Grand Theft (Unlocked Vehicle):
A theft from an unlocked vehicle was reported at 1600 Mountain Avenue (Walmart). The victim stated that on 10-17-20, at approximately 3:00 pm, unknown persons entered his unlocked vehicle and stole camera equipment and a drone from inside. Deputies did not locate any surveillance video. The estimated loss was $985.62.
  • Grand Theft (Unlocked Vehicle):
A theft from an unlocked vehicle was reported on the 1800 Block of Huntington Drive. The victim stated that on 10-19-20, at approximately 9:00 am, unknown persons stole garden equipment from his unsecured truck bed. Deputies did not locate any surveillance video. The estimated loss was $2,150.
  • Grand Theft (Catalytic Converter):
A victim reported their vehicle catalytic converter was stolen near the 900 Block of Junipero Drive. The theft occurred between 10-13-20, 10:00 pm, and 10-19-20, 9:00 am.Suspects stole the catalytic converter from the victim’s 2009 Toyota Prius. Deputies did not locate any surveillance video. The estimated loss was $2,300.
 
October 20, 2020
  • Grand Theft (Catalytic Converter):
A victim reported their vehicle catalytic converter was stolen near the 1000 Block of Hamilton Avenue. The theft occurred between 10-13-20, 12:00 pm, and 10-20-20, 10:00 am. Suspects stole the catalytic converter from the victim’s 2013 GMC Savana. Deputies did not locate any surveillance video. The estimated loss was $1,000.
  • Burglary (Vehicle):
A vehicle burglary was reported on the 1400 Block of Third Street.The victim stated between 10-18-20, 8:00 pm, and 10-20-20, 2:00 pm, unknown persons entered his locked vehicle and stole a GPS navigation unit and a pump. Deputies found no evidence of force entry, nor did they located any surveillance video. The estimated loss was $301.
 
October 21, 2020
  • Grand Theft (Catalytic Converter):
A victim reported their vehicle catalytic converter was stolen near the 1600 Block of Bradbury Avenue. The theft occurred between 10-20-20, 2:00 pm, and 10-21-20, 5:00 am.Suspects stole the catalytic converter from the victim’s 1999 Ford F-250. Deputies did not locate any surveillance video. The estimated loss was $1,000.
  • Grand Theft Auto:
A victim reported their vehicle had been stolen near the 3500 Block of Conata Street. The victim’s Ford F-150 was stolen between 10-18-20, 11:00 pm, and 10-21-20, 8:30 pm from the location. Deputies did not locate any surveillance video. The vehicle is still outstanding.
  • Grand Theft Auto:
A victim reported their vehicle had been stolen near the 1500 Block of Duncannon Avenue. The victim’s GMC Yukon was stolen between 10-20-20, 11:00 pm, and 10-21-20, 6:00 am from the location. Deputies did not locate any surveillance video. The vehicle was recovered by Arcadia Police Department on 10-21-20. No one was in custody.
 
October 22, 2020
  • Rape (Occurred in August):
A sex offense against a child under the age of 14 years old was reported. The incident took place in August by a known family friend. The victim does not live in the area and was visiting her father. Special Victim Detectives are investigating the incident.
  • Burglary (Vehicle):
A vehicle burglary was reported on the 2100 Block of Maynard Drive. The victim stated between 10-21-20, 2:00 pm, and 10-22-20, 6:30 am, unknown persons entered her locked vehicle and rummaged through the glove compartment. At the time of the report the victim could not identify any items stolen. Deputies found no evidence of force entry, nor did they located any surveillance video.
 
 
October 23, 2020
  • Burglary(Shoplifting):
A theft was reported at 1600 Mountain Avenue (Walmart). A male adult was seen exiting the store with a tent from the sporting good aisle. The male ran from the business and was detained by responding deputies. The male was arrested for the theft and transported to Temple Sheriff Station. A surveillance video of the incident was available. The estimated loss was $165.
  • Burglary (Residential):
A residential burglary was reported on the 2300 Block of Royal Oaks Drive. The victim stated between 10-20-20, 4:00 pm, and 10-22-20, 8:00 am, unknown persons entered her home and stole jewelry and clothing. The victim said her home was being fumigated during this time and upon coming home she noticed someone entered the home through the patio door. Deputies did not locate any surveillance video. The estimated loss was $1,375.
 
October 24, 2020
  • Robbery (Firearm):
A victim reported he was robbed on the 400 Block of Woodbluff Avenue. At approximately 10:55 pm, the victim met two male adults via an online application to sell a pair of shoes. After showing the suspects the shoes, one of the suspects pointed a handgun at the victim and ordered him to surrender the shoes and any property in his pockets. The suspects stole a pair of Nike shoes and a key fob. The suspects drove northbound Woodbluff Avenuen in a white Chevy Impala and out of view. Surveillance video captured the incident. The estimated loss was $570.
  • Grand Theft Auto:
A victim reported their vehicle had been stolen near the 1400 Block of Huntington Drive. The victim’s Nissan Sentra was stolen between 08-30-20 and 10-17-20,from the location. Deputies did not locate any surveillance video. The vehicle is still outstanding.
  • Burglary (Business):
A commerical burglary was reported on the 2000 Block of Central Avenue. The victim stated between 10-23-20, 7:00 pm, and 10-24-20, 4:00 pm, unknown persons cut the back door lock to the business and stole a laptop and two drills. Deputies did not locate any surveillance video. The estimated loss was $2,000.
  • Grand Theft (Catalytic Converter):
A victim reported their vehicle catalytic converter was stolen near the 1800 Block of Evergreen Avenue. The theft occurred between 10-23-20, 7:00 pm, and 10-24-20,11:00 am. Suspects stole the catalytic converter from the victim’s 2006 GMC Box Truck. Deputies did not locate any surveillance video. The estimated loss was $2,000.
 
CRIME PREVENTION TIPS: What you can do to deter Package Theft
 
Utilizing a combination of the following tipa can reduce the likelihood of thieves stealing your packages:
  • Always track your shipment online.
  • Choose a shipping option that requires a signature for delivery.
  • Schedule packages to arrive when you are home or arrange to ship your packages to a location where a friend, relative, trusted neighbor, or apartment manager can accept them on your behalf.
  • Ship packages to your place of employment.
  • Request the delivery service hold your package for pick-up at their facility.
  • Utilize deliveries to retailer provided lockers or carrier provided alternate drop points where you can go to pick-up your items.
  • Utilize free services that track packages, redirect packages to convenient locations for pick-up, and request vacation holds.
  • Some shipping companies utilize tracking services which can include features such as shipping status notification and delivery schedule. Check to see if these services are available in your area.
 
Where applicable, consider installing:
  • Wi-Fi enabled cameras that provide alerts.
  • Motion sensor lighting.
  • Package lock boxes.
Report suspicious persons to the police.
