Halloween Activities in Cushing

Saturday, October 31st is designated for Halloween activities in Cushing. Please be cautious of downed trees and limbs in yards. Officers will be out doing extra patrols. The City does not set the times for related activities (trick-or-treating). Both children and adults that choose to participate are asked to limit the time of activities to the late afternoon and early evening hours for pedestrian safety.
We want everyone to have a Spooktacular time this Halloween, but we also need everyone’s help to ensure we all stay safe while having fun. If you do go trick-or-treating, then we ask that everyone wear a mask, remember to practice social distancing from people who are not from your immediate household and make sure you wash your hands once you get home. If you are sick or not feeling well, then please stay home.
The CDC recommends one-way trick-or-treating in which individually wrapped goodie bags are lined up for families to grab and go while continuing to social distance (such as at the end of a driveway or at the edge of a yard). You could also have a container of candy available with hand sanitizer next to it for trick-or-treaters to use once they have finished stopping by your house.
The CDC has placed this activity in the “higher risk” category for virus transmission, and more information can be found at https://cdc.gov/.../2019.../daily-life-coping/holidays.html. Based upon their recommendations, the following tips can make participation safer for everyone.
For those that choose to participate by visiting homes, these tips are strongly encouraged:
-All participants should wear appropriate face coverings over their nose and mouth. However, do not wear such a face covering underneath a costume mask to avoid breathing problems.
-Practice social distancing by only traveling with family members.
-Regularly wash or sanitize hands between homes and especially before eating treats.
-If possible, try to visit homes with people in which you already have regular contact and limit your interactions with others.
For those that choose to participate by handing out treats, these tips are strongly encouraged:
-Wear an appropriate face covering over your nose and mouth.
-Regularly wash or sanitize hands between visitors.
-If possible, pre-make treat bags that can be placed outside for a no-contact experience.
-Indicate participation by turning on exterior lights, so that children only call on homes so lighted.
