Chief Rivetti's Letter to the Community Regarding Election Week 2020

The Beverly Hills Police Department is taking a proactive approach to ensure a safe community during the upcoming Election Week.  For the last nine weeks, BHPD has been planning for election week and all the resources necessary to keep the community safe. As we all know, the planning listed below is subject to change based on the intelligence we gather.

  • Resources
    • Maximum Deployment
      • All BHPD officers and command staff will work 12 hours on and 12 hours off starting 10/31 through 11/7.
    • Law Enforcement Assistance
      • The Santa Paula Police Department SWAT team will assist BHPD for a full week starting 10/31.
      • BHPD will have other local and state law enforcement agencies assist in patrolling residential areas.
    • Partnership with 80 armed security guards
      • Two security companies have contracted with the City to support the police department. BHPD will use the two companies as a resource to provide extra protection to the residential area of the City as well as the business area.
  • Emergency Operation Center (EOC) Activation
    • The EOC will be activated during the week of 10/31. An EOC is a central command and control facility responsible for carrying out emergency preparedness and emergency management principles and ensuring the continuity of operations.
  • Hot Line
    • The hotline will be open to answer general questions that residents may have. The number to the hotline is 310-550-4680.
  • Intelligence
    • We have an incredible intelligence unit that monitors all protests in the Los Angeles County area.  Intelligence is ever-changing; the intelligence unit is constantly monitoring open-source social media and communicating with federal and state partners for real-time information.
  • Private Security Form
    • This form will allow residents or businesses to report private security companies that they hire. The form can be filled out by the security company as well. This form will allow for better tracking of security guards and companies that are working in the City.  https://beverlyhills.org/PDSecurity
Rodeo Drive
Rodeo Drive businesses were also provided additional specific direction that will impact Rodeo Drive businesses located inside of the Rodeo Drive Road Closure:
  • Rodeo Drive will be closed starting at 11:59 pm on Monday night, 11/2/20.  From that moment on, there will be NO cars or pedestrians allowed on Rodeo Drive until BHPD has removed or adjusted the hard road closure. Cement K-Rail will be placed at the following Rodeo Drive intersections:
    • Rodeo Drive/S. Santa Monica Blvd.
    • Rodeo Drive/Dayton Way
    • Rodeo Drive/Brighton Way
    • Rodeo Drive/Wilshire Blvd.
  • If a Rodeo Drive business is boarding up, we strongly suggests that Rodeo Drive businesses board up by no later than Monday, 11/2/20 as a result of the Rodeo Drive specific hard road closure.
  • The alleys Rodeo Drive shares with Camden and Beverly will be soft closed by Traffic Control Officers (TCOs). TCOs will allow Rodeo Drive alley access for medical patients to go into buildings where they have medical appointments, if those locations have alley access. If you have a Rodeo Drive medical office, please email your patients proof of their appointments, which they can show the TCOs to gain access.

Sincerely,

Dominick Rivetti
