Notable Cases
On Monday, 10-19-20 at 3:38 p.m., Officer Gill and Officer Brenes were dispatched to the area of Schwerin Street and Geneva Avenue on a report of a hit and run collision. The officers arrived and saw a black sedan with major damage to the front end, damage to both sides of the vehicle, the airbags deployed, and a male standing beside the vehicle. The male, a 22-year old Daly City resident, was hesitant to provide the officers with any information about how his vehicle sustained such damage. The vehicle had collided with a large tree, a Daly City streets electrical box, and a telephone pole. The male told the officers that someone he did not recognize followed him, and he felt that the vehicle collided with the rear end of his vehicle, causing him to “spin out”. The other car had left the scene; however, the reporting party provided a license plate of the other vehicle and a description of the driver. The male subject overheard Officer Gill telling Officer Brenes the name of the registered owner’s daughter, and the subject told the officers she was his current girlfriend. The officers conducted a records check on the girlfriend and found out she was previously arrested in a domestic violence case in which the same male was mentioned as the victim. Later that evening, officers interviewed the girlfriend, a 19-year old Daly City resident. The witness positively identified the female as the one who was involved in the collision. Officers then arrested the female for assault with a deadly weapon after she purposely rammed her vehicle into the victim’s vehicle.
On Wednesday, 10-21-20 at approximately 7:31 p.m., Officer Luis arrested a 59-year old San Francisco resident for driving a motor vehicle while intoxicated. This occurred following a traffic collision in the area of Washington Street and Junipero Serra Boulevard.
On Thursday, 10-22-20 at approximately 10:12 a.m., Officer Andrade was dispatched to the area of TJ Maxx on a report of a subject who stole merchandise from the Cricket Wireless kiosk in the Serramonte mall. Officer Andrade contacted a subject who matched the description and noticed the subject was carrying two bags. The officer asked the subject if he had any property inside the bags that did not belonging to him. The subject consented to the officer checking his bags, and Officer Andrade found multiple unopened cellphone cases. The subject told the officer he purchased them from a store but did not have a receipt. Officer Grogan assisted and went to the wireless kiosk and noticed it was not staffed. Officer Grogan noticed the display case was broken, and he was able to see on video that the subject had broken into the display case. Officer Andrade arrested the subject, a 42-year old transient, for burglary, possession of stolen property, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
On Thursday, 10-22-20 at approximately 11:58 am., a 17-year old Daly City resident reported he was the victim of a brandishing and an assault with a deadly weapon via a “pistol whip” to the back of his head. This occurred on the 100 block of Hillcrest Avenue. The victim said another suspect hit him in the face. The victim said the suspects fled in a small silver pickup driven by a female subject. The victim described the first suspect as an 18-year old Hispanic male, 5’7”, 130 lbs., wearing a gray hoodie. He described the second suspect as a 16-year old Hispanic male, 5’2”, and 120 pounds. This investigation is continuing.
On Thursday, 10-22-20 at approximately 2:35 p.m., subsequent to a traffic enforcement stop by Officer Chittenden in the Serramonte Shopping Center parking lot near Sephora, a 53-year old San Francisco resident was arrested for a parole violation, possession of pepper spray, possession of metal knuckles, possession of a switch blade, possession of a stun gun, and possession of fentanyl and heroin. The passenger, a 37-year old San Francisco resident, was arrested for providing false information to a police officer.
On Thursday, 10-22-20 at approximately 5:40 p.m., subsequent to a traffic stop by Officer Shoopman at the intersection of Bismark Street and Peter Street, a 42-year old San Francisco resident was cited for possession of MDMA and possession of an imitation firearm.
On Saturday, 10-24-20 at 12:18 a.m., Officer Jackson-Berrios was dispatched to the area of Morton Drive and Beverly Street on a report of a possible intoxicated driver. The reporting party said he was dropping off his friends at their house on Morton Drive when he saw a vehicle with the doors open in the middle of the road, which made him unable to drive around the vehicle. The reporting party and his friend got out of their vehicle to try to find someone to move the vehicle. The reporting party heard a “tussling” sound coming from up the street and saw a male on top of a female, and he asked them what was going on. The male immediately got up and said his girlfriend was trying to find her earring. The reporting party said the male appeared intoxicated. The female appeared to be crying and got up to walk towards the vehicle. The reporting party told the female she shouldn’t be driving and offered to park the vehicle. The reporting party said the female got into the driver’s seat, and he reached in and turned the vehicle off, pulled the keys out of the car and called the police. The reporting party said the female was able to retrieve the keys by biting the reporting party’s hand. The subjects then drove to South San Francisco where they were ultimately stopped by the police. The male, a 24-year old Daly City resident, was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol, and the female, a 24-year old South San Francisco resident, was arrested for battery against the 29-year old reporting party.

This private network ensures that only those who live in your neighborhood can join; users must go through a verification process. Neighbors ask each other for business recommendations; help in locating missing pets; discuss relevant local government issues; or connect for other reasons. It is very easy to sign up. I like the fact that the site verifies users by addresses, and it won’t allow people to access to a neighborhood if they don’t live there. Please note: The City of Daly City and/or the Police Department cannot see what residents post—we are only allowed to post information. There is also a mobile application, or you can have it sent to your e-mail. Give it a try! www.nextdoor.com
