| Narrative: |
A person has been arrested after leading deputies on a high speed pursuit which exceeded 120 MPH through the Cities of Camarillo and Thousand Oaks.
In the early morning hours of October 29, 2020, a deputy from the Camarillo Police Department attempted to make a traffic enforcement stop on a vehicle registered to Noe Marquez. The vehicle immediately fled from the deputy reaching speeds of 120 MPH. The deputy pursued the vehicle north on Santa Rosa Valley Road where it broke several traffic laws. The deputy discontinued the pursuit of the vehicle because of the dangerous conditions. A broadcast was made to surrounding jurisdictions about the vehicle.
At about 0100 hours, deputies working in the City of Thousand Oaks observed the vehicle at the intersection of Olsen Road and Moorpark Road. The vehicle was stopped at a red light. Deputies pulled in behind the vehicle, at which time it ran a red light and again accelerated at a high rate of speed. Deputies pursued the vehicle for only a few minutes on Olsen Road before it was determined the high rate of speed was too dangerous; at that time the pursuit was again cancelled.
At about 9:00 am, detectives from the Camarillo Special Enforcement Detail located the vehicle involved in the pursuit in the City of Simi Valley. The vehicle was seized, but they were unable to make contact with Marquez.
On October 30, 2020, detectives from the Camarillo Special Enforcement Detail were able to make contact with Marquez. Detectives were able to gather additional evidence which identified Marquez as the driver of the vehicle on October 29. Marquez was arrested and booked into the
Ventura County Jail for a violation of California Vehicle Code 2800.2, Reckless Evading and a violation of probation. Marquez’ bail was set at $50,000.
The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office would like to remind the public when being stopped by a law enforcement officer, to safely pull to the right and preferably keep your hands in view of the officer. If you attempt to flee from a law enforcement officer you put yourself, the officer, and the general public in danger. Additionally, you could be held both criminally and civilly liable for actions you take while attempting to flee from a law enforcement officer.
