Advisory

Manhattan Beach Police Department prepared for potential civil unrest.

With the recent concern of multiple cities announcing they will be on tactical alert within the coming week, the Manhattan Beach Police Department would like to assure the community that we have prepared an operational plan, which outlines our intent to protect our residents and visitors as well as their right to vote in the local and national elections.

This plan includes additional staffing which will provide coverage to handle any unexpected needs that arise due to situations of unrest, and will also allow the Manhattan Beach Police Department to provide for a safe environment for our community and businesses. This plan will also include providing mutual aid agency assistance to our law enforcement partners requesting our help in the event of any civil unrest or other disruption. Our police personnel have been briefed on the polling locations and will be receiving continual updates as they relate to the situation.

We have been in contact with our local, and state partners to ensure we establish communication to facilitate and streamline any requests for assistance or other matters. At this time the city of Manhattan Beach has not received any information that we will be a target of any disruptions, however the Manhattan Beach Police Department will continually be monitoring the situation and taking appropriate action as necessary.
