EOC: Nine (9) New COVID 19 Cases Today in Ketchikan
Good Afternoon, this is Ketchikan Emergency Manager Abner Hoage. At 2:05pm today the Ketchikan EOC and Cape Fox Lodge published press releases advising the community of 9 new positive cases of COVID 19 bringing our currently active case count to 21.
While 16 of these cases appear to be part of a single cluster, Public Health is working to complete the contact investigations and confirm this to be the case.
With a cluster this large that appears to have spread very quickly, there is a strong chance that there are additional positive cases within the community, and I fully expect to announce more new cases in the coming days.
It is extremely important especially as we consider how to celebrate this Halloween weekend that we all do our part to protect ourselves and our neighbors.
This includes avoiding large gatherings, wearing a mask in public, washing our hands often and staying home if you are sick.
We are a strong community and will get through this together by being apart for now.
