The Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating an officer involved shooting in the 1700 block of N Gratton Road in an unincorporated portion of Denair.
On Sunday, November 8, 2020, at approximately 5:40 p.m., deputies responded to the N Gratton Rd location for reports of a disturbance. As our patrol deputies were conducting their preliminary investigation, they encountered a person who was the subject of the initial 911 calls. An officer involved shooting ensued shortly thereafter, and the man was wounded during the altercation with our personnel. He was promptly transported to a local area hospital for injuries he sustained.
Our detectives with the Crimes Against Persons Unit are currently investigating the incident, as are representatives with the Stanislaus County District Attorney’s Office, and the Internal Affairs Bureau with the Sheriff’s Office as per our internal policies.
No law enforcement personnel were injured, nor were any other witnesses or other civilian bystanders. We will have more information to provide later in the week as additional facts are collected.
