VERIZON WIRELESS is experiencing network issues affecting some of their customers' ability to dial 911 and reach local public safety officials. It is reported there are about 350 Verizon tower sites affected, including the Polk County area. If you are a Verizon customer needing emergency services and your 911 calls fail, please contact POLK COUNTY SHERIFF is 515-286-3333 or Westcom at 515-222-3321. Verizon is aware of the issue and working to resolve the problem. VERIZON is the only affected cellular carrier that we are aware of having issues at this time.
