Fatality Accident Press Release
FATALITY PRESS RELEASE
On 11/14/2020 at around 2:28 AM, dispatchers at the Northern Ellis Emergency Dispatch center received a 9-1-1 call from a resident in the 400 block of S. IH-35E service road about a major accident involving a single vehicle. The vehicle was identified as a black 1995 Chevy Camaro. The caller advised that it appeared the vehicle had left the roadway and collided with a large tree. Red Oak Police Department and Red Oak Fire Rescue personnel were dispatched to the scene to investigate. Red Oak Police personnel arrived on scene and started an investigation into the collision.
Based on the preliminary investigation, it appears that the vehicle was traveling northbound in the 400 block of N. IH-35E and left the interstate across a large embankment towards the service road. The vehicle crossed the service road and collided with a large tree and came to rest. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Taylor, Kevin Mitchell (30 years old) of Oak Leaf, Texas. The driver sustained life-ending injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene by Justice of the Peace Steve Eagan at approximately 4:42 AM.
The accident remains under investigation.
