Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office is currently involved in a police activity in the area of Bystrum Rd/N Hwy-99 Off-ramp in unincorporated Ceres.

Please avoid this area for the next few hours.

The Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating a shooting near Bystrum Road and the northbound Hwy-99 off-ramp in unincorporated Ceres.

We received emergency 911 calls today, Thursday, November 19, 2020, at approximately 11:45 a.m., of a vehicle being reportedly shot at by occupants of another vehicle. Our deputies quickly responded and located a crime scene. We later learned a victim was transported by unknown means to a local area hospital.

The extent of the person’s injuries is not fully known at this time; however, we can report the male victim is being cared for in the trauma unit.

We are asking members of the public to avoid the area near the Hwy-99 off-ramp while we continue to process the scene, interview relevant witnesses and recover evidence.

Deputies are still actively pursuing leads in hopes of contacting those responsible. Suspect information is limited at this time. We will be able to share further once the preliminary investigation has concluded.
