INCIDENT: Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Assault on a Peace Officer, Probation Violation

LOCATION: 60800 Block of Duvall Drive, Joshua Tree

SUSPECT(S): Carol Sullivan, 38 year old resident of Joshua Tree

VICTIM(S): Confidential

SUMMARY: On November 17, 2020, at 12:44p.m., deputies assigned to the Morongo Basin Station responded to the 60800 block of Duvall Drive in Joshua Tree to the report of an unwanted subject. The caller reported a female trespassing on the his property, using drugs, and refusing to leave. Responding deputies contacted the victim and discovered the female, Carol Sullivan, still at the location.

Deputies contacted Sullivan, who was found seated on the ground near drug paraphernalia. Deputies informed Sullivan she was being placed under arrest. Sullivan then picked up a hypodermic needle filled with a brown liquid, suspected to be heroin. Sullivan removed the cap from the hypodermic needle and attempted to stab the needle at the responding deputy's leg. Deputies were able to safely detain Sullivan without further incident. Sullivan was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon on a peace officer and an outstanding felony warrant. Sullivan was booked into the Morongo Basin Jail where she is being held without bail.
