Harper Woods Library Returns to Curbside Service

At last night's library board meeting, the board voted to return to curbside service only. We will be offering curbside service from Monday, November 23 through Tuesday, December 8.

On December 9, we will evaluate the situation, as well as pay attention to information coming from the Michigan Department of Health & Human Services and Wayne County. At that point, we will decide whether to return to Grab & Go or stay with Curbside Service until the new year.

As a reminder, you can request items online, through email, or on the phone, and we'll bring them out to you.

Tuesday: 11:00am—7:00pm
Wednesday: 11:00am—7:00pm

Q. How do I ask for books, movies, and other materials?

A: We have a few ways!

Give us a phone call at 313-343-2575 when we are open. Let us know what you would like. Your items generally will be ready 60 minutes after we talk. If there is a problem, we will contact you.

Send us an email at [email protected]. Please include your name, your library card number, and a phone number we can reach you at if there are problems. Then let us know what you would like. Examples:

“Please get me the latest book by Alyssa Cole!”

“My kids need some books about dinosaurs.”

“I’m so sick of my own cookbooks. Please get something new!”

Your books generally will be ready 60 minutes after we send you a confirmation email. If there is a problem, we will contact you.

Use our catalog! You can...
… go to our website and click on the “Search for Books and Other Library Materials” button
… go directly to the catalog with this link: http://sbrb.ent.sirsi.net/client/en_US/hpw/
… use the SLC Libraries Mobile app. You can find it for iOS and Android.

Your items will be ready when you get an email or text from our electronic system

Q: How do I pick up my books, movies, and other items?

A: After you get confirmation of your request or that your materials are ready, come to the south side of the library building (where the book drop and the bike racks are).

Park in one of the four spaces with the orange traffic cones. Give us a call at 313-343-2575 and tell us your name, library card number, and car style.

We will bring everything out to you and put them in your trunk.
If you walk or bicycle to the library, give us a call at 313-343-2575 and tell us your name and library card number.

We will bring everything out to you and we will put them on the ground 6 feet away to promote social distancing.

Q: What about returning books, movies, and other items?

A: Please return all books, movies, and other items in the book drop. To protect the staff, they will not be able take returns directly from you. If you have any mobility concerns, please let us know when you arrive, and we will bring out a cart to place the books on.

Please be patient and understanding. We are all navigating these times together. We will be offering as many services as possible via curbside to continue to serve the residents of Harper Woods.

Stay safe and Healthy!
