West Caldwell COVID Update 11.20.2020

This is West Caldwell Mayor Joe Tempesta with a public service announcement.

Before I give you the weekly update on the Covid cases, on behalf of the West Caldwell Mayor and Council we sincerely wish all of you a Happy Healthy and Safe Thanksgiving.

Please be advised the West Caldwell Health Department has informed us as of today Friday November 20 we currently have nineteen (19) new confirmed cases of Covid-19 in West Caldwell’s general population since last week.

Of the 19 new confirmed cases, 7 individuals are home quarantined and recovering. The other 12 individuals have already recovered. Since the beginning of the Pandemic we have had a total of 230 cases, of which, we’ve had 8 citizens pass away in our general population. Thankfully we have had 215 cases closed whereby those citizens are recovered and are no longer quarantined. We currently have 3 current Covid cases in the Hackensack Meridian Health WC Care Center. There are no current cases in Crane’s Mill.

We encourage all of you to continue the practice of social distancing, wash your hands often, and wear masks whenever possible. We also want to remind parents particularly parents with young student adults at home or returning home from College, please make sure they social distance and wear a mask whenever possible. With Thanksgiving coming, we encourage you if you are hosting Thanksgiving in your home, try and make your gatherings as small as possible preferably under 10 people. House parties tend to be an incubator for the Covid-19 virus, and we are simply trying to remind all of you to be careful.

I also ask that you continue to join me in thanking all our first responders and teachers. I also thank you for continuing to patronize our restaurants and retail stores.
