Deputies conducted a Tobacco Education and Inspection Operation in Yucaipa

INCIDENT: Tobacco Education and Inspection Operation
LOCATION: Licensed tobacco retailers, Yucaipa
SUMMARY: Deputies D. Wedge and A. Rosa contacted 45 licensed tobacco retailers located in the city of Yucaipa. The purpose of the retailer contacts was to conduct inspections of the businesses and provide education to the store employees/owners to ensure they are in compliance with current laws.
The inspections included the proper storage of tobacco products, tobacco displays and the sales of cigarettes and associated tobacco products, including electronic cigarettes (vapes) and their components.
During the inspections deputies looked for products and marketing displays which tend to be targeted towards minors. The deputies also addressed community concerns received regarding sales and accessibility of tobacco products to minors.
