WATER SYSTEM THEFT

On November 19th, one of our officers on his way to work observed a utility truck with two large plastic tanks on the back parked at SR 419 & Cherry Avenue. There was a hose connected from a fire hydrant to the tank of the truck. Further investigation determined that the well drilling company truck had been filling their water tanks at the hydrant for two weeks without permission from the Cornwall Borough Water Authority.
Residents are asked that anytime they see something like this occurring they notify the Borough Office or the Police Department.
Fire hydrant water is not free for the taking. The Borough purchases water from the City of Lebanon and all water flowing to the Borough is metered.
The Borough Water Authority is reviewing usage reports to determine approximately how many gallons were pumped from the hydrant.
