County to Prohibit In-Person Dining at Restaurants, Wineries, Breweries, and Bars as a Result of COVID-19 Surge

County to Prohibit In-Person Dining at Restaurants, Wineries, Breweries, and Bars as a Result of COVID-19 Surge

Manhattan Beach, CA (November 25, 2020) – COVID-19 cases continue to increase at alarming levels, and as a result, the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health (DPH) has modified the Health Order to prohibit in-person dining at restaurants, wineries, breweries, and bars beginning today at 10:00 PM. These businesses may only offer pick-up or delivery services and must discontinue in-person dining for a minimum of three weeks. Please note that the County Health Order linked above addresses more safeguards than those applicable to in-person dining.

On Wednesday, November 18, 2020, the DPH warned that this modified order would be implemented if COVID-19 cases continued to surge and a five-day average of new cases exceeded 4,000. On Sunday, the five-day average of new cases reached 4,097.

“While it is disheartening to see outdoor dining restricted during our progress towards reopening our economy, we must remain safe and vigilant against COVID-19,” said Mayor Richard Montgomery. “Our common goal is to move forward these next three weeks and avoid more restrictive measures. Please stay home as much as possible and support our restaurants throughout the entire City by ordering meals for pick-up or delivery. They need our help during this holiday season!  Remember to keep your loved ones safe by celebrating Thanksgiving virtually or only with household members, and certainly stay home if you are sick or have been exposed to someone with COVID-19.”

On Monday, November 23, 2020, the five-day average of new cases exceeded 4,500, triggering a Targeted Safer at Home Order with additional safety measures. The County has indicated that additional restrictions may be issued.
