On Wednesday, November 25 at 11:00PM Meridian officers were dispatched to a suspect possibly driving under the influence. Officers located and originally stopped GREEN in the area of Locust Grove and Chinden. During the initial stop at Locust Grove and Joplin Road GREEN refused to cooperate with officers who had boxed her black Chevy passenger vehicle in with police vehicles. The suspect refused to get out of her vehicle in an attempt to evade arrest and struck a Meridian officer with her vehicle, forcing officers to fire at the suspect.
The suspect was able to escape the initial stop and fled in her vehicle southbound on Locust Grove. Officer’s attempts to execute a Pursuit Intervention Technique (PIT) were unsuccessful and the suspect continued South on Locust Grove near Cougar Creek where officers successfully deployed spikes on the suspect’s vehicle. The suspect was ultimately forced to stop in the area of Locust Grove Road and E. Loop Lane near the Fred Meyer, after a Meridian officer rammed the suspect’s vehicle bringing a successful end to the pursuit. It was at this time officers discovered the suspect had been struck in the arm during the initial shooting.
One (1) Meridian officer was transported to a local hospital for multiple injuries, where the officer was treated and released. The suspect was transported to a local hospital and treated for a gunshot wound to the arm. GREEN was ultimately booked into the Ada County Jail for the following charges: one (1) count felony Battery on a Police Officer, one (1) count felony Eluding a Police Officer, one (1) count misdemeanor Driving Under the Influence and one (1) count misdemeanor Resisting and Obstructing.
Initial evidence indicates that two officers fired their weapons. The incident remains under investigation by the Ada County Critical Incident Task Force with Boise Police Department as the lead investigators. No further information is available at this time.
