Felony OWI 6th Offense
On Saturday, November 28, 2020 at 2:26 a.m., a Middleton Police Officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 6200 block of University Avenue in the City of Middleton. The registered owner of the vehicle did not have a valid driver’s license. The driver was identified as Demetrius Mathes, 45 years old, of Madison.
The officer noted a strong odor of marijuana and odor of intoxicants coming from Mathes. Mathes refused field sobriety testing and was subsequently arrested for 6th offense operating while under the influence of intoxicant or other drug (OWI), which is a felony. Mathes was transported to the Dane County Jail where he was booked on the tentative charge of 6th offense OWI and was cited for Operating after Revocation of his driver’s license.
