Package thieves watch delivery trucks place boxes on front porches. Don't let them get away with stealing from you.
Monitor Your Deliveries, Be Aware of Porch Pirates
Did you get a chance to enjoy Cyber Monday? Just waiting on those packages to arrive? With all the excitement, we sometimes forget to be aware of “Porch Pirates.” Porch pirates are thieves always on the look out to get to your package before you do.
But how can you keep your packages safe?
- Consider delivering your package to your place of work if you can’t be home for day time delivery.
- Follow tracking numbers, sign up for delivery notifications so you know the current whereabouts of your package
- Not going to be home? Ask a trusted family member or neighbor to be on the lookout for your delivery.
- Request the package be left out of view, perhaps behind a pillar, behind a bench, or alongside the house.
- If available, request signature confirmation upon delivery
- Ordered from Amazon? How about having it sent to a secure Amazon locker provided at various locations including Whole Foods, the Beverly Center, Beverly Connection, among other locations.
We will continue to do our part and conduct crime suppressions and extra patrol checks, but we ask for your help in being on the lookout for suspicious activity in your neighborhood. Always report suspicious activity. #SeeSomethingSaySomething. Don’t become a victim of theft.
