Man Arrested for Brandishing a Gun at Target

On Tuesday December 1st, at approximately 5:30 pm, Morgan Hill Police were dispatched to 1061 Cochrane Rd (Target) on a report of a man inside the store with a gun. Upon arrival, MHPD patrol officers learned a male suspect entered the store without wearing a mask. Two female employees contacted the suspect and asked him to put on a mask and a verbal confrontation began. The suspect seemed to be agitated and then retrieved what appeared to be a handgun from his pocket. The employees feared for their safety and backed away from the suspect and called 911. The suspect remained in the store while police responded to the scene.

Officers located the suspect inside the store and were able to deescalate the situation and safely take him into custody without incident. Officers conducted a search for the suspected firearm with negative results. No shots were fired by the suspect and no one was harmed during the incident. The suspect, later identified as 27 year -old Mohamud Abdalla, was later booked into Santa Clara County Main Jail.
