Red Flag Warning: Fire Danger, Power Shutoff Possible

The National Weather Service issued a Red Flag Warning for the foothills of Lake Forest and other Orange County areas, running between Wednesday, 12/2 and Saturday, 12/5.

Southern California Edison announced power may be shut off to reduce the risk of wildfire in those areas. SCE representatives will be at Portola Park in Lake Forest from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Thursday, December 3. The park is at Glenn Ranch and Saddleback Ranch Roads.

Residents are urged to avoid any activities that could start a fire. Previous wildfires have started when a lawn mower blade struck a rock and when a chain dragging behind a vehicle created sparks on the road.

In case of wildfire, the City of Lake Forest has updated its evacuation map. The entire City is now divided into zones, and residents are urged to review the maps before a fire begins. Additionally, have an evacuation plan - including prescriptions, cash and other necessities, and share it with family members and loved ones.
