Extended Power Outage from 8-13 Mile ZImovia Highway. Power restoration anticipated tomorrow, December 3,2020

Today’s continued storms have caused severe damage to trees, power lines and utility infrastructure, impacting much of the south end of Wrangell Island from 8-mile out.
The power will not be restored this evening as the situation involves many power poles and requires specialized equipment on steep embankment. At this time WML&P estimates restoration of utilities tomorrow, December 3, 2020. We will be addressing the issue with additional personnel at first light.
At this time, the road is open. If you do have to travel this evening, please use caution as the situation continues to change with the strong winds.
