Sheriff's Toy Drive Donations

Nature of Incident: Ventura County Sheriff’s Office Seeking to Provide Donated Toys for Less Fortunate Children During this Holiday Season

Report Number: None
Location: All Sheriff’s Patrol Stations in Ventura County
Date & Time: December 4, 2020 @ 10:00 a.m.
Unit(s) Responsible: Ventura County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Stations – Thousand Oaks, Moorpark, Camarillo, Fillmore, Ojai, and Headquarters

Narrative:
The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office is reaching out in a unique way during this holiday season to give to children of families in need.   We are asking members of the community to work together with us to donate toys for distribution to those most in need.   This month, employees at all Sheriff’s patrol stations will be distributing toys in a “drive thru” pickup event.  By mailing unwrapped toys to us, citizens will brighten the lives of many children who are enduring difficult times.

Many in our community are less fortunate.  In years’ past, the community has come together for events such as “Shop with a Cop” and the “Share-iffs Toy Drive.”  Due to the pandemic and the inability to hold the gatherings for these events, families are being identified as most in need.  Donated toys for children ages 8-13 will be gathered and offered for drive-thru pickup at each Sheriff’s Patrol Station on a designated date and time later this month.

To participate in this worthwhile effort in our communities, citizens can donate new, unwrapped toys purchased from online retailers to the Thousand Oaks Patrol Station as a central gathering point.

The Ventura County Fire Department is partnering with the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office to make the holidays brighter for those in need.  As a Spark of Love partner, toys may also be dropped off at many local businesses throughout the county. Participating locations can be found at https://vcfd.org/sparkoflovedropoff/.  Toys received will then be distributed to Sheriff’s patrol stations for families to participate in a drive-thru pickup event.

Toy donation participation is open through Monday, December 14, 2020.

New, unwrapped toys can also be delivered to the public lobby at the Thousand Oaks Patrol Station.

Shipments can be addressed to:

Ventura County Sheriff’s Office

Working together with our citizens in this endeavor enables our communities to become stronger as one and bring a feeling of goodwill during this holiday season.
