El Cerrito Police Department Crime Blotter: Nov. 23rd - Dec. 3rd, 2020

The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito. It does not include all crimes. It also does not include non-criminal events such as missing persons, traffic collisions, non-criminal deaths, non-criminal disputes, nor many other police activities that do not result in arrest.

November 23rd:

Warrant Arrest- Central Avenue @ San Joaquin Street:
At 9:59, officers arrested a 57 year-old man for an outstanding warrant.

Vehicle Tampering- 7501 Schmidt Lane:
An unknown suspect attempted to steal a Gator utility vehicle from the Corporation Yard sometime between the 18th and today.

Burglary- 500 block of Kearney Street:
An unknown suspect entered a garage and stole the victim’s bicycle between 4:15 am and 4:30 am.

November 24th:

Commercial Burglary – 10598 San Pablo Ave (Baskin Robbins):
At 12:56 am, officers responded to a commercial burglary reported by the business owner who saw the front door had been shattered via his video surveillance system. The video showed a male break the front door glass and enter the store. The male stole money from the cash drawer and fled the area on foot.

November 25th:

No reportable events.

November 26th:

Armed Robbery – 7022 Stockton Ave (7Eleven):
At 1:54 am, officers responded to an armed robbery at the 7Eleven involving three males. Three subjects wearing dark clothing, masks and hooded jackets entered the store. One of the subjects pointed a firearm at the cashier and the subjects committed an armed robbery. The subjects fled the store. Thankfully, the clerk was not injured.

Pursuit / Firearm Possession – Stockton Ave. / Norvell Ave.:
While responded to the above robbery, a suspicious vehicle was seen leaving the area. The vehicle had a stolen license plate affixed to it. When an officer attempted to stop it, it fled from the traffic stop. The driver of the vehicle, a 19-year-old Oakland male was involved in a solo vehicle collision on I-80 in Emeryville. The suspect fled on foot but was apprehended nearby without force. A loaded firearm, power tools and catalytic converters were located in the vehicle. The subject was booked into the MDF.

Commercial Burglary – 11861 San Pablo Ave (Starbucks):
At 3:59 am, an officer reports the drive thru window was pried open and entry was made by an unknown suspect. It was unknown if there was a loss of property.

November 27th:

Grand Theft – 1500 block of Richmond St:
At 2:23 pm, an officer reports an unknown suspect removed the catalytic converter from the underside of the victim’s vehicle sometime during the prior week.

Grand Theft – 1400 block of Everett St:
At 4:18 pm, an officer reports an unknown suspect removed the catalytic converter from the underside of the victim’s vehicle sometime during the prior week.

November 28th:

No reportable events.

November 29th:

DUI – Key Blvd/Knott Ave:
At 2:05 am, an officer reports the arrest of a 19-year old male from Richmond after he was found asleep behind the wheel of his vehicle that was parked in the middle of the street. After conducting field sobriety tests with the male, the officer determined that he was under the influence of alcohol. The male was transported to ECPD for booking and later released to a sober relative with a citation.

Attempted Theft – 1300 block of Navellier St:
At 5:56 am, an officer reports an unknown suspect was interrupted while attempting to steal items from the inside of the victim’s vehicle.

Vandalism – 2000 block of Tapscott Ave:
At 9:38 am, an officer reports an unknown suspect broke the front windshield of the victim’s vehicle which had been parked in front of the listed residence.

Grand Theft – 600 block of Norvell St:
At 11:54 am, an officer reports an unknown suspect removed the catalytic converter from the underside of the victim’s vehicle sometime during the evening.

Grand Theft – 1200 block of Norvell St:
At 1:23 pm, an officer reports an unknown suspect removed the catalytic converter from the underside of the victim’s vehicle sometime during the evening.

Shoplifting – 10650 San Pablo Ave (CVS):
At 5:39 pm, an officer reports 3 unknown suspects entered the business and smashed open the alcohol display case before removing merchandise and fleeing the store.

November 30th:

Illegal Dumping – Blake St. / Ohlone Greenway:
At 8:08 am, an officer reports an unknown suspect dumped a large quantity of trash in the area which had to be removed by City employees.

Grand Theft – 800 block of Lexington Ave:
At 12:04 pm, an officer reports an unknown suspect removed the catalytic converter from the underside of the victim’s vehicle sometime over the past several days.

December 1st:

Stolen Vehicle- 900 block of South 55th Street:
An unknown suspect stole the victim’s Chevy Silverado between 10:00 and 10:30 am.

Commercial Burglary – 3100 block of Carlson Boulevard:
At 4:58 am, a suspect cut a lock to a door and entered the business. Once inside the suspect took lotto tickets and cigarettes. The suspect then fled in awaiting vehicle.

December 2nd:

Auto Burglary – 5900 block of Jordan Avenue:
At midnight, an officer reports an unknown suspect smashed a camper shell window and removed several boxes, one of which contained car parts. The suspect left the items in the roadway and fled the scene.

December 3rd:

No reportable events.
