Advisory

One teenager hospitalized after shooting near Moses Lake early this morning.

MOSES LAKE, Wash. (05DEC2020): A Mattawa teenager was hospitalized early this morning and later released after a reported shooting in the 1000 block of Vandenburg Loop in the Larson community north of Moses Lake. No one else was hurt.

A deputy in the vicinity heard the gunshots around 12:30 a.m., as multiple calls started coming in to @MACC911 with @MosesLakePolice and @grantcountyfire5 responding. The deputy in the area saw and stopped the victim's vehicle as it was leaving the area. One of two teenage males in the vehicle had suffered a gunshot wound to his back. The injured male was transported to Samaritan hospital where he was later released.

Early indication is that this was a drug transaction which went sour. Two teenagers entered into the deal over social media. They drove from Mattawa to the Larson community where they encountered the person who allegedly fired the shots and fled on a black bicycle.

The vehicle in this incident has been impounded and evidence is being collected.

The investigation continues.
