Northfield Twp Police handled 397 calls for service this month

11/02/2020 *Fraud
Elizabeth St – A Complainant reported that via the internet he procured services through a cash app. The service provider requested additional funds through Ebay gift cards. Once payment was made, all communication ceased and no product or service was received.
** Always be cautious when making purchases through the internet, check reviews and references. Do not pay for items with gift cards.

11/03/2020 *Larceny of Mail/ Fraudulent Activity
5500 Block of Hellner- A complainant reported that after not receiving mail for 4 days, he went to the post office where he learned that his mail was being forwarded without authorization. The complainant was advised to check his credit, place a fraud alert on his credit and monitor all financial transactions. The case remains under investigation.

11/04/2020 *Defrauding the Inn Keeper
9800 Block of Main St – A complainant reported that after eating; two suspects exited the restaurant stating they were going out for a cigarette. When they did not return, the complainant exited the property and observed them leaving the parking lot. A suspect has been developed and the case remains under investigation.

11/05/2020 *Breaking & Entering
8900 Block of Earhart – The complainant reported that sometime between October 28 & November 2; an unknown suspect(s) entered his secured outbuilding and remove a large radiant heater. The case remains under investigation.

11/06/2020 *Crash Investigation
7 Mile Rd & Earhart – Officers responded to a rollover crash to discover a 52 year old driver pinned in the vehicle. Northfield Fire assisted using the Jaws of Life, HVA transported the d/river to U of M where he was listed in critical condition.

11/11/2020 *Crash Investigation Vehicle –Bicyclist
Westbrook & Main St – At 11:35 Officers responded to a vehicle / bicycle Crash; the investigation revealed that as a vehicle was driving out of the complex, the driver became distracted and struck a bicyclist who had peddled in front of the driveway. The 59 year old bicyclist was transported to St Joes by Huron Valley Ambulance.

11/07/2020 * Crash Investigation Arrest – Operating While Intoxicated
7 Mile Rd & Earhart – Officers responded to a rollover crash and discovered the driver outside of his vehicle. The investigation revealed the driver may have been drinking alcohol prior to the crash. After a series of sobriety tasks, the driver was arrested and transported to U of M for a voluntary blood draw. Due to the crash, the driver was kept at the hospital for medical evaluation, the lab results returned and the case has been submitted to the prosecutor’s office.

11/09/2020 *Careless Driving / Possible Malicious Destruction of Property
Earhart & 5 Mile Rd – An Officer responded to an ATV possibly causing damage to the newly grated road. The investigation revealed the driver and ATV involved, the driver was issued a citation for Careless Driving. The road commission was to evaluate and determine the extent of the damage. The case remains open pending the evaluation.

11/12/2020 *Arrest -Home Invasion/Assault
Anna Dr – Officers responded to an assault and home invasion. The investigation revealed that the parties were known to each other, that two subjects had entered the home, uninvited, and assaulted a resident of the home. Officers arrested the two suspects who are being charged with the assault and home invasion.

11/13/2020 *Identity Theft – Fraudulent Bank Transaction
Emerald Circle - A victim reported that his bank contacted him regarding a recent request for a new debit card that was sent out of state. The victim confirmed he did not authorize such a request. The bank is working with the victim to recover lost funds from his account. The victim was advised to request a credit check and to report this activity to the Federal Trade Commission. The case remains under investigation.

11/14/2020 *Malicious Destruction of Property
200 Block of Emerald Circle – The reporting person stated that sometime between 6 pm on 11/13 and 11 am on 11/14, unknown subject(s) cut the complainants tires. No witness or evidence was available at the time of the report; if anyone has information regarding this incident they are ask to contact the Northfield Twp Police.

11/17/2020 *Larceny
6800 Block of Whitmore Lake – An Officer responded to a business alarm and when they arrived the Officer discovered a cable was cut and property missing. The investigation revealed that incident occurred between 0354 & 0400 with a Male suspect and Chevy Pick Up involved. The case remains under investigation.

11/17/2020 *Trespass
Post Office – Main St – A complainant reported that a known patron had become upset with another patron because of the lack of six foot social distancing. The known patron became verbally and physically aggressive. No battery occurred, but the behavior warranted the request for the patron to be given a criminal trespass warning.

11/17/2020 *Disturbance
East Shore – Officers were called for an unruly individual. Officers mediated a neighbor conflict to regain peace in the neighborhood.

11/19/2020 *Attempt Larceny –Property Recovered
8700 Block of Main St – Officers responded to a possible larceny attempt. When Officers arrived they located the suspect still in the store and were able to recover the merchant’s property. No arrest was made as the totality of the incident did not meet the elements of theft. The subject was escorted from the property.

11/19/2020 *Car Dear Crash –
North Territorial & Hellner - An Officer responded to a minor deer /car crash—The vehicle had minor damage, but the deer had injuries requiring the Officer to put down the deer. The deer was received by a community member.

11/23/2020 *Found Property – Girls Bike
9100 Block of Lake Pine – A homeowner reported finding a girls bike on her property. After posting the pink and purple bike on a local internet site, the finder turned it over to NTPD. If anyone is missing this bike, contact the Northfield Twp Police Department.

11/23/2020 *Armed Robbery of a Business
300 Block of E. North Territorial Rd - At approximately 8:20 pm a suspect entered the Sunoco Gas Station claiming he was in need of a gas can. After looking around the station the subject exited, but returned shortly to produce a handgun and demand money from the clerk. The subject then fled the scene. The suspect is described as a white male unknown age wearing a beige fishing hat, mask, dark outer pull over shirt, dark pants and possible gym shoes. Anyone pumping gas at this time that may have observed the described suspect in or around the gas station, is asked to contact the Northfield Twp Police.

11/25/2020 *Larceny
8600 Block of Main St – Two employees reported that on 11/23/20 and 11/25 an unknown suspect entered the employee room and lockers and removed payroll checks from their bags. The cases remain under investigation.

11/25/2020 *Larceny of Registration Tab
200 Block of Dartmoor – A complainant reported that sometime between September 20 and November 22; an unknown suspect removed his registration tab from his license plate. No witnesses or evidence were available at the time of the report.

11/27/2020 *Arrest-- Driving on a Suspended License / Reckless Driving
North Territorial & U.S 23 – An Officer on patrol observed a vehicle “spinning out” to complete a “donut” while exiting a driveway. During the traffic stop the driver was found to have multiple license suspensions. The vehicle was impounded and the driver issued a misdemeanor ticket and released.

11/27/2020 *Arrest –Possession of Stolen Vehicle –
Five Mile & Earhart – An Officer responded to a suspicious vehicle to discover the occupants of the vehicle intoxicated. The passenger occupant was transported to the hospital due to high alcohol content. Further investigation revealed the vehicle was stolen. Also, a previous occupant who became upset over family issues left the vehicle threatening to harm herself. A K-9 assisted in finding the 3rd occupant. The stolen vehicle was impounded and the case was forwarded to the prosecutor’s office for review.

11/30/2020 *Arrest - Driving on a Suspended License
Seven Mile Rd & Earhart - An Officer on patrol observed a speeding vehicle. During the traffic stop, the Officer discovered the driver’s license was suspended. The driver was issued a misdemeanor ticket for driving on a suspended license and his vehicle was impounded.
