December 9, 2020, Covid-19 in Knowlton Township
This week Knowlton has seen a large increase in Covid-19 cases. We now have 59 cases, with 27 recovered. Part of the increase is due to an outbreak currently affecting 25 patients at the Clover Rest Home in Knowlton. Deputy Mayor Debra Shipps is organizing dinners to provide to the medical staff there, many of whom are coming from long distances and working long shifts. Anyone interested in helping should contact her at [email protected]. Our thanks goes Humpty Juniors, Knowlton Fire and Rescue, and several families who have already given generously to assist the medical staff caring for the sick in Knowlton.
Long-term care facilities are regulated by the NJ DOH Division of Health Facilities Evaluation and Licensing, and they are required to keep family members of patients up-to-date on issues in the facility. The website showing Covid-19 cases at longterm facilities is found here: LTC_Facilities_Outbreaks_List.xlsx (state.nj.us)
Warren County is averaging 45 cases per day over the last 7 days. The percent positivity has also risen to 17%. These are both marked increases. Intensive care units at hospitals in Warren County have now reached 85% capacity. Ventilator capacity is at 70%. The hospital statistics are indicators to watch, as the state may take further action as hospitals approach their maximum capacities.
The Warren County Health Department is looking at expanding testing at the county testing site in Belvidere. Information about that and vaccination planning will be provided via Nixle once it is available.
For the sake of our businesses and reopening our schools, as well as protecting those with compromised systems, please wear a mask, wash hands frequently, and practice social distancing.
