Crime Alert Bulletin for the week of November 30-December 6, 2020
When I mention “the unit block” of a street, this means the incident occurred at an address anywhere between 1 and 99 of the street.
Notable Cases
On Monday, 11-30-20 at approximately 8:00 p.m., a 45-year old Daly City resident was going home from work on a MUNI bus and carrying a knock off high end leather designer purse. She exited the bus at the bus stop at Mission Street and Flournoy Street and noticed two people on the bus who exited with her. The victim began to worry that the subjects were going to hurt her or try to rob her, so she decided to walk into the nearby Dollar Tree store. The victim said the subjects didn’t follow her, so she began to walk to her residence on the 300 block of Santa Barbara Avenue. As she got to John Daly Boulevard and Mission Street, she noticed the two subjects again and had a bad feeling. She said she continued to walk and then felt the suspects behind her. The suspects told her not to turn around and make any noises. The victim said she continued walking with the suspects trailing her, and she decided to run to her house since it was halfway down the block. The victim said the suspects chased her down, grabbed her from behind and began trying to pry her purse from her hands. The victim said the suspects then started punching her in the face and head while pulling her hair. The victim let go of the purse, and the suspects grabbed it and ran southbound on Santa Barbara Avenue and east on Theta Avenue. The victim said her family ran to assist her, and they tried to run after the suspects, but they lost visual of them. This case was assigned to investigators, and with the assistance of a BART police officer, both of the suspects were identified. On 12-09-20, our investigators arrested both suspects, an 18-year old female from Rodeo and a 15-year old female from Hayward, for robbery and battery.
On Tuesday, 12-01-20 at 2:29 a.m., Officer Graner was dispatched to a residence on the 300 block of Price Street on a report of an intoxicated male banging on the door. Officer Graner offered to drive the male to a sobering facility in Burlingame, and the male agreed to stay there until he was sober. At 3:12 a.m., Officer Graner released the subject to the staff at the sobering facility. A short time later, the staff reported that the male ran out of the building, leaving behind his wallet and other property. Officer Jackson and two Burlingame P.D. officers joined in on the search for the subject. At approximately 3:34 a.m., Officer Jackson found the subject at the Westin Hotel in Millbrae. Officer Graner then booked the suspect, a 38-year old Daly City resident, in jail.
On Tuesday, 12-01-20 at approximately 9:40 p.m., Officer Greene was dispatched to the Target store at the Westlake Shopping Center on a report of a person who stole merchandise and sprayed pepper spray at the loss prevention officer. The officer said he heard the emergency alarm activate and saw a female holding a basket full of Hennessey bottles. The officer told the subject to drop the merchandise, and the female refused and instead pulled out a can of pepper spray and sprayed it towards him. The female then ran towards the Home Depot parking lot and entered a black Chevrolet Monte Carlo and was last seen traveling westbound on Southgate Avenue from Lake Merced Boulevard. Broadmoor police officers attempted to stop the vehicle, and it collided with a fence at the dead end of Fairlawn Court and also collided with several parked vehicles. The Broadmoor police officers detained the female who matched the description of the Target suspect. The female, a 35-year old San Francisco resident, was arrested for robbery, assault with a caustic chemical, being a felon in possession of pepper spray, and possession of narcotics paraphernalia. The male, a 45-year old San Francisco resident, was arrested for conspiracy, evading police, and hit and run.
On Thursday, 12-03-20 at 3:32 a.m., a 34-year old Daly City resident was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol after he was involved in a hit and run collision that occurred on Shipley Avenue and King Drive.

Nextdoor.com
Nextdoor.com is a free private social networking website for your neighborhood. This private network ensures that only those who live in your neighborhood can join; users must go through a verification process. Neighbors ask each other for business recommendations; help in locating missing pets; discuss relevant local government issues; or connect for other reasons. It is very easy to sign up. I like the fact that the site verifies users by addresses, and it won’t allow people to access to a neighborhood if they don’t live there. Please note: The City of Daly City and/or the Police Department cannot see what residents post—we are only allowed to post information. There is also a mobile application, or you can have it sent to your e-mail. Give it a try! www.nextdoor.com
