On December 9, 2020 at 11:44 p.m., Sunnyvale DPS Patrol and Fire personnel responded to the intersection of El Camino Real and Bernardo Ave on the report of a person down in the roadway. An adult male subject was found in the roadway with life threatening injuries that were consistent with being struck by a motor vehicle. He was treated at the scene and transported by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
The involved vehicle fled the scene prior to the arrival of police and fire personnel.
The collision remains under investigation by the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT). Any witnesses to the collision are asked to contact MAIT Investigator Jason Pistor at (408)730-7109.
