Fatal Hit and Run on Monterey Rd
On 12/10/20, at approximately 5:35 p.m., Morgan Hill Police Officers responded to the area of Monterey Rd and E. Middle on a report of a vehicle collision involving a pedestrian. While responding to the call, officers learned a pedestrian had been hit and a witness was performing CPR. Upon arrival, officers secured the scene and initiated life-saving measures.
During the investigation, officers learned the male pedestrian was attempting to cross Monterey Rd near the 76 Gas Station north of E. Middle. While crossing the southbound lanes of traffic, the pedestrian was struck by a red compact vehicle. The pedestrian fell on to the roadway and was struck again by a light-colored Toyota pick-up. Both vehicles left the scene after the collision and were last seen traveling south on Monterey Rd. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS personnel.
Morgan Hill PD Traffic Officers responded to the collision and are investigating the deadly incident. All lanes of Monterey Rd were closed for several hours during the investigation. The identity of the pedestrian is being withheld until notification is made to the next of kin by the County Coroner’s Office. MHPD is following up on witness statements and evidence left at the scene.
