El Cerrito Police Department Crime Blotter: Dec. 4th - 11th, 2020
The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito. It does not include all crimes. It also does not include non-criminal events such as missing persons, traffic collisions, non-criminal deaths, non-criminal disputes, nor many other police activities that do not result in arrest.
December 4th
Stolen Vehicle – 600 block of Elm St:
At 8:19 am, an officer reports an unknown suspect stole the victim’s vehicle from the street in front of their residence sometime during the evening.
Shoplifting – 2000 El Cerrito Plaza (Ross):
At 11:39 am, an officer reports two suspects entered the business and selected several hundred dollars’ worth of merchandise before fleeing the business.
Stolen Vehicle – 3400 block of Carlson Blvd:
At 11:53 am, an officer reports an unknown suspect stolen the victim’s fishing boat and trailer from an apartment complex parking lot sometime over the past few days.
December 5th
Brandishing a Weapon – 11785 San Pablo Ave (Launderland):
At 7:28 am, an officer reports the Citizen’s Arrest of a 52-year-old man who had entered the business and threatened the victim with a baseball bat. The man was later transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
Possession of Stolen Property – 1600 block of Roger Ct:
At 5:17 pm, an officer contacted the driver of a suspicious vehicle and observed several packages which he believed to have been recently stolen. The packages were confiscated and later returned to 8 different victims’ all of whom lived in neighboring cities.
Warrant Arrest – Potrero Avenue at Kearney Street:
At 3:01 am an officer found a car parked in the middle of the roadway. The officer contacted the occupants and found that one of them had an outstanding warrant for his arrest issued by Solano County. The subject was arrested, booked at ECPD, and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
Stolen and recovered vehicle – 1300 Block of Arlington Blvd.
At 3:57 am the victim called the police as his vehicle was being stolen and being driven away from the home. An officer who was responding to the call located the vehicle parked with nobody inside of it about three blocks away from where it was stolen. It was returned to the owner.
December 6th
Vandalism – 11785 San Pablo Ave (Launderland):
At 2:36 pm, an officer reports the Citizen’s Arrest of a 38-year-old man who damaged the victim’s vehicle during an argument. The man was issued a citation and released at the scene with his written promise to appear.
Warrant Arrest – Potrero Avenue at Elm Street:
At 4:10 am an officer pulled over a vehicle and found the driver was on Parole and had an outstanding warrant for his arrest issued by the California Department of Corrections. The subject was arrested, booked at ECPD, and then transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
December 7th
Possession of a Controlled Substance- San Pablo Avenue @ Moeser Lane:
At 4:35 pm, an officer arrested a parolee for being possession of methamphetamine. The man was booked at the ECPD and released with a citation.
December 8th
Grand Theft- 700 block of Everett Street:
An unknown suspect stole the catalytic converter from the victim’s Honda during the morning hours.
December 9th
Vandalism- 1500 block of Lexington Avenue:
An unknown suspect shattered a side window to the victim’s Mercedes sometime around mid-morning
Possession of a Controlled Substance- 10290 San Pablo Avenue:
At 1:10 pm, an officer arrested a 38-year-old man for being in possession of methamphetamine. The man was released in the field with a citation.
December 10th
Grand Theft- 5500 block of Ludwig Avenue:
An unknown suspect stole the catalytic converter from a Prius sometime over the past few days.
Warrant Arrest- San Pablo Avenue @ Central Avenue:
At 3:17 pm, an officer arrested a 44-year-old man for an outstanding warrant. The man was transported directly to the Martinez Detention Facility.
