Burglary arrest in San Anselmo yesterday.

A man was arrested on Sunday after an early morning break-in at Mi Familia restaurant in San Anselmo.

On December 13th, shortly before 7:00 a.m., officers responded to 530 Redhill Avenue for an in-progress burglary at the restaurant. An employee called 9-1-1, reporting that he went to the business and found the front glass door smashed and he could see a person inside. Officers immediately arrived and saw the suspect come out of the building carrying a plastic trash can. Once the suspect realized the police were there, he started to run west on Red Hill Avenue. He lost his balance and dropped the trash can and a pry bar. The can was full of pre-rolled coins taken from the restaurant safe and they rolled into the street and gutter. He was taken into custody without incident.

The suspect’s car was parked nearby and drugs, drug paraphernalia, and some items of suspected stolen property were found inside. CMP detectives are continuing the investigation this week.

Luiz Claudio Dutra Dester, age 39, of San Mateo was booked at Marin County Jail on charges of burglary, possession of burglary tools, possession of a controlled substance, and drug paraphernalia.
