Advisory

Important Weather Statement

The National Weather Service current forecasts up to 12-16 inches of snow in Bergen County. Starting on Wednesday night and continuing into Thursday. Please take precautionary preparedness measures.
Parking of any vehicle on any portion of a public street is prohibited whenever snow is falling, and the accumulation is such that it covers the public streets in the Borough and plowing is required. This allows our DPW to clear streets more efficiently when accumulating snow continues to fall. Before a storm begins, the main streets will be pre-treated with an environmentally safe solution that reduces the freezing temperature at which snow freezes. During the storm, snowplows will concentrate on keeping lanes clear on every street
Please do not plow, blow or shovel snow into the street. When you move snow onto the street, it not only hinders the efforts of DPW employees who are trying to keep roadways clear, it also creates a safety hazard for other drivers.
When a snow emergency is in effect, you must move your vehicles off all Borough streets. If you cannot move your vehicle or comply with the law, call the Police Department at 201-664-1221 to tell them about your problem.
Finally, please help the Old Tappan Volunteer Fire Department by removing snow from around all fire hydrants located along your property curb lines. Thank you and please stay safe.
