Advisory

IMPORTANT STORM INFORMATION FROM THE PELHAM POLICE

The Pelham Police would like to urge our residents to exercise caution and be prepared for the expected major winter storm that will impact the entire tri-state region Wednesday afternoon into Thursday morning.  Much of the region will likely receive 8-12” of snow with the potential for 12-18” and strong gale winds up to 55 mph creating blizzard conditions.  These conditions can cause trees and power lines to come down resulting in electric service interruptions.  The Pelham Police Department will have a Con-Edison municipal liaison working directly with them throughout the storm.

Please avoid all unnecessary travel to allow the DPW to clear roadways. Travel will be difficult Wednesday evening into Thursday morning with visibility at ¼ mile or less at times.

In the event of life or property threatening emergencies, dial 911 or call the Pelham Police at (914) 738-2000.

To report a power outage contact Con Edison directly at 1-800-75-CONED (1-800-752-6633).  Calling Con Edison directly enters your power loss into their computerized database.  You can also report outages, view outages map, and check outage status at www.conEd.com

Please review the important safety tips below:

AVOID ALL FALLEN WIRES:

  • You can't tell if a power line is energized just by looking at it. Assume all fallen power lines are live and proceed with extreme caution.
  • Do not drive over fallen wires. Always follow the utility personnel instructions regarding fallen power lines.
  • If you see a fallen power line, stay at least 30 feet away from it and anything it contacts. The ground around a power line and any objects it contacts may be energized.
  • Do not attempt to move a fallen power line or anything else in contact with it using an object such as a broom or stick. Even non-conductive materials like wood or cloth can conduct electricity if even slightly wet.
