Our department has received many complaints from residents that have received emails from companies such as Amazon, Xfinity, and Nike telling them their account is on hold. In the email there is a link to click on to verify the customers account. This email is a SCAM, When you click on this link, this gives someone access to your computer and everything in it.
On way to spot a RED FLAG in a suspicious email is to look at the sender of the email. As you can see in this picture (actual email) it appears to be from Amazon, however the sender is from Crabiepratries.online. NOT Amazon.
This may seem trivial but it may save someone from getting your personal information, banking information and you having to spend hours on the phone with an IT person getting your computer fixed.
