EL Cerrito Police Department Crime Blotter Dec. 11th - 17th, 2020

The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito. It does not include all crimes. It also does not include non-criminal events such as missing persons, traffic collisions, non-criminal deaths, non-criminal disputes, nor many other police activities that do not result in arrest.

December 11th

Burglary – 670 El Cerrito Plaza (CVS):
At 5:45 pm, CVS called to report that two suspects had come into the store and broke into a liquor display cabinet and stole approximately $500.00 worth of alcohol. The suspects then ran to a car in the parking lot and drove away.

Driving Under the Influence – San Pablo Avenue / Stockton Avenue:
At 12:31 am, an officer pulled a vehicle over and after an investigation determined the driver was intoxicated. The driver was arrested, booked at ECPD, and then released with a citation.

December 12th

Vehicle Tampering – 11280 San Pablo Ave (Auto Import Sales):
At 12:50 pm, an officer reports an unknown suspect broke a window to the victim’s vehicle and opened the hood; no loss was reported.

Indecent Exposure – 10759 San Pablo Ave (Marshalls):
At 3:32 pm, an officer reports an unknown suspect approached the victim while she was inside her vehicle. The suspect exposed himself to the victim and then fled in a vehicle.

Vehicle Theft – 700 block of Seaview Drive:
At 4:30 am an officer responded to the report that the victim had just heard their vehicle drive away from the home. The vehicle had been parked in front of the home before it was stolen.

Brandishing a Firearm – 11700 block of San Pablo Avenue:
At 12:24 am a delivery driver had exited his vehicle in the parking lot to make his delivery when he saw a subject walking towards him pulling a ski mask over his face. The victim got back into his car and drove away when he saw the suspect was pointing a handgun at him.

December 13th

Petty Theft – 6700 block of Snowdon Ave:
At 8:00 am, an officer reports a known suspect entered the porch of a nearby home and removed a package from the porch. The woman was later contacted, and the package was recovered. The victim declined to prosecute the woman for theft.

Petty Theft – 7022 Stockton Avenue:
At 7:20 pm and officer went to 7-11 for the report of a theft that had occurred where food was stolen. The officer viewed the surveillance footage of the theft and then about 5 hours later saw the suspect walking on San Pablo Avenue near the El Cerrito Plaza. The officer stopped the suspect and spoke to him about the theft. The suspect admitted he had stolen the items from 7-11 and the officer issued him a citation for the theft, and he was released.

Vehicle Theft – 11450 San Pablo Avenue (Safeway):
At 11:10 pm and officer went to a report that a vehicle had been stolen from the Safeway parking lot sometime in the last ten hours.

December 14th

Battery – Kearney St / Schmidt Ln:

At 6:32 am, an officer reports an unknown suspect approached the victim as he exited his delivery truck and punched the victim in the face before running off.

Shoplifting – 11565 San Pablo Ave (Walgreens):

At 9:35 am, an officer reports two unknown juvenile suspects entered the business and loaded approximately $700 worth of beauty products and personal hygiene products into a bag and fled the scene.

Shoplifting – 11565 San Pablo Ave (Walgreens):

At 1:16 pm, an officer reports the Citizen’s Arrest of a 54-year-old man who was contacted as he exited the store with stolen property. The man was issued a citation and released at the scene.

December 15th

Petty Theft/ Shoplifting- 670 El Cerrito Plaza:
At 5:07 pm, an unknown female entered CVS and stole several bottles of alcohol.

December 16th

Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol- Central Avenue @ I-80:
At 2:00 pm, an officer spotted a man driving down Central Avenue while drinking an alcoholic beverage. The driver was arrested for DUI, booked at the ECPD, and then released to a family member.

Petty Theft- 5800 Block of Alta Punta Avenue:
At 8:42 am, a resident called to report an unknown male stealing a package from a neighbor’s doorstep.

December 17th

Vandalism – 700 block of Norvell Street:
At 5:29 pm, an officer reports an unknown suspect smashed the front passenger window of the victim’s vehicle.

Shoplifting – El Cerrito Plaza:
At 8:29 pm, an officer reports a group of adults entered a business and concealed merchandise. The subjects then left the store without paying.

Warrant Arrest – San Pablo Ave and Plumas Ave:
At 11:48 pm, an officer conducted a traffic stop and subsequently arrested the driver. The driver had an outstanding warrant out for her arrest. The driver was issued a citation and released at the scene.
