Man Arrested and Charged after Crash with Police Vehicle 
On December 18, 2020 at 9:41 PM a city officer was conducting a motor vehicle stop on U.S. Route 30 just east of Shore Road when his patrol vehicle was struck by a passing motorist. Juan Roman-Duran, of Pleasantville, was operating a 2009 Honda Accord when the crash occurred. Both the police cruiser and vehicle on the car stop were struck.
The investigation revealed, Roman-Duran was operating his vehicle while intoxicated and with a minor child in the vehicle. The Absecon officer was transported to the hospital for treatment of his injuries. No other injuries were reported.
ARRESTED: Juan Roman-Duran, 32, of Pleasantville, NJ.
CHARGES: Driving While Intoxicated, Assault by Auto, Endangering Welfare of Children, DWI with Minor Passenger, and other related traffic violations.
The roadway was reduced to one lane for approximately two hours while the crash was investigated. Any witnesses are urged to contact the Absecon Police Department, Traffic Safety Unit at 609-641-0667.
