Two suspects were arrested for the murder of Curtis Smith and extradited from Las Vegas, NV to San Bernardino County

DATE/TIME: Tuesday, August 21, 2018 10:28 p.m.

INCIDENT: Murder Investigation

LOCATION: 20200 block of Thunderbird Rd., Apple Valley

SUSPECTS: Treavion Jamar Early, age 20, a resident of Las Vegas, NV
Alexander Simmons, age 27 a resident of Las Vegas, NV

VICTIM: Curtis Smith, age 22, a resident of Apple Valley

SUMMARY: UPDATE: December 21, 2020

Following an extensive investigation, investigators identified the suspects responsible for the death of Curtis Smith in August of 2018 to be Treavion Jamar Early and Alexander Simmons. Investigators obtained arrest warrants for both suspects in October of 2020.

On December 2, 2020, investigators were advised the suspects had been arrested in Las Vegas, Nevada, and were in custody at the Clark County Detention Center in Las Vegas.

On December 17, 2020, the suspects were extradited to San Bernardino County and booked into the High Desert Detention Center for murder. They both remain in custody; Treavion Jamar Early is being held without bail and is scheduled for court on December 21, 2020. Alexander Simmons is being held on $2,400,000.00 bail and is scheduled for court on December 29, 2020.

Homicide Investigators would like to thank the public for their assistance in the murder investigation of Curtis Smith. NEW Information has been received, and interviews have been conducted regarding the possible identity of the suspects involved in this murder investigation.

UPDATE: March 6, 2019

Through investigation, homicide investigators have learned the victim, Curtis Smith, was shot during a robbery at the incident location. The suspects have been described as two black males in their twenties. The suspects are believed to have fled the location in a white SUV similar to the vehicle posted.

On Tuesday, August 21, 2018, at 10:28 p.m., deputies responded to 911 calls in the 20200 block of Thunderbird Road in Apple Valley, reporting a disturbance. The caller stated a person had been shot. Deputies and medical personnel arrived and found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound. They attempted life-saving measures before transporting the victim to St. Mary’s Hospital. The victim was pronounced deceased at 11:03 p.m.
