Salida, CA –

Detectives with the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office are currently investigating an overnight homicide which took place at approximately 10:00 p.m. on Monday, December 21, 2020 in the parking lot of a business in the 4300 block of Salida Boulevard.

Patrol deputies were initially dispatched to reports of an assault with a deadly weapon call. As they arrived on-scene, they located a male victim in a car who had sustained major life-threatening injuries and needed to be urgently rushed to a local area hospital. The victim unfortunately did not survive and was pronounced deceased at Doctors Medical Center in Modesto.

The investigation is ongoing as investigators continue to conduct interviews, gather evidence, and follow other leads. No arrests have been made yet, but we are diligently working to identify the person or persons responsible for this homicide. The victim is identified as 30-year-old Salida resident Jamal Nejat. He was able to make the initial 911 call for himself which prompted an immediate emergency medical and law enforcement response.
