Message from Mayor Janice Mironov to East Windsor Residents

MESSAGE FROM MAYOR JANICE MIRONOV
TO EAST WINDSOR RESIDENTS

Positive COVID-19 cases continue to increase in New Jersey and Mercer County, as well as locally in East Windsor and surrounding municipalities, but hope and help are on the way as vaccine distribution commences globally, nationally and in New Jersey. Locally, East Windsor is working cooperatively with the State and other area municipalities through our County Health Officers Association to schedule vaccination clinics. Along with Hamilton Township and our municipal partners, we are commencing the first series of localized clinics focusing on State Priority Group designated in Phase 1A, Emergency Medical Services personnel and other community healthcare workers. As vaccination information and plans are rolled out, we will ensure to keep all of our residents fully up to date through our Township website, e-news and Nixle alerts. So Please Stay With the Safety Program, we can do this for a few more months! And Please Keep Connected!

Since March of this year we braced ourselves as a community during uncertain times and worked together to accept and adhere to changes in our daily lives and activities; after a few months our efforts collaboratively assisted in the statewide effort to flatten the curve and reduce the active count number. Health care professionals and agencies have stated that the recent reported number of positive cases nationwide and statewide indicate we are in the midst of the Second Wave of the virus as anticipated. I want to share with you that this week, we experienced our highest ever number of daily new positive COVID-19 cases, with 31 new cases on Monday and 32 new cases on Tuesday. Overall, in the Township, we currently are monitoring a total of 362 active positive cases and, since the on-set of the pandemic in March, have had 1,552 total positive COVID-19 cases in East Windsor. So while we are in a positive medical direction, we are not yet out of the woods.

As we celebrate our Holidays and enter the winter months, it remains especially important that everyone in our community shares responsibility to take all precautions and help minimize the risks of the spread of the virus to ourselves and to others within our community. As we hear about the positive medical breakthroughs that are expected to bring longer term relief in the coming months, we need to continue to work together to successfully reach that light in the tunnel. Everyone must play their key part in helping to slow the spread of COVID-19. We strongly ask you to please watch out for your family, friends and our entire community, including providing safer conditions for our first responders, by exercising extra diligence and following all of the required directives and advice of health care experts and government officials. We need to remember that the most effective and most caring responsible thing we can continue to do for ourselves, our loved ones and our entire community is to focus on the recommended precautions with a heightened sense of adherence.

Please stay safe. Be blessed and at peace in this holiday season. Thank you to everyone in East Windsor for your continued caring and cooperation, let's be East Windsor Strong together!!

MAYOR JANICE S. MIRONOV

COVID-19 VACCINATION INFORMATION

Recently, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration issued an Emergency Use Authorization for the Pfizer/BioNTech and Moderna vaccines against COVID-19, allowing distribution and vaccination in accordance with the New Jersey priority categories phasing plan. Local hospitals are currently vaccinating their front-line staff and long-term care centers are expected to receive vaccines starting December 28. The NJ Phasing Plan sets up categories as to when various groups of people will have the opportunity to receive the vaccine. Phase 1A is currently in progress with distribution being provided to local emergency medical services personnel and other community healthcare workers. When New Jersey officials determine the timing appropriate, Phase 1B will then be activated and seniors ages 75 and older and frontline essential workers will be eligible to receive their vaccinations. After successful implementation of the first two phases, Phase 1C will be put into effect which will allow for adults 65 to 74 years and adults with underlying medical conditions to be eligible to receive the vaccination. After these phases are complete, then the general public will be eligible for vaccination. The timing of each phase will be determined by the New Jersey Department of Health as vaccines become more readily available, and that plan will continually be updated in response to the changing circumstances of the pandemic.

Locally, East Windsor is working cooperatively with the State and with other area municipalities through our County Health Officers Association to schedule vaccination clinics in accordance with the State phasing plan. Along with Hamilton Township and our municipal partners, we are commencing the first series of localized clinics focusing on priority group, Phase 1A, Emergency Medical Services personnel and other community healthcare workers. As vaccination information and plans are rolled out, we will ensure to keep all of our residents fully up to date through our Township website, e-news and Nixle alerts. Make sure you and your family, neighbors are SIGNED UP!
