Significant weather event expected for Christmas Day (Friday). Please make preparations and STAY SAFE!
Since 2020 has been a year of challenges, why wouldn't we have a significant weather event preparing to rear its ugly head on Christmas Day?!
Please be advised that Eversource is preparing to respond to a significant storm expected to impact New Hampshire early Friday, on Christmas morning. Forecasts are calling for heavy rain and peak wind gusts as high as 60 mph. These are damaging winds that down trees and poles, block roads and cause significant power outages.
Due to the latest forecast, Eversource will be declaring an official Emergency Response Plan (ERP) on Thursday, December 24.
As a result, Eversource has canceled employee vacations and the company is preparing for potentially a multi-day restoration event.
Here are the priorities embedded in Eversource's Emergency Response Plan:
1. The first hours of restoration will focus will be on FPS1 Life Safety police and fire calls, E-911 calls, life-threatening situations and damage assessment.
2. Our top priorities are critical facilities, particularly hospitals and healthcare facilities; blocked roads; and circuit backbones and lateral feeders enabling us to restore the largest number of customers first.
Please know that members of the Hollis Police Department, Hollis Fire Department, Hollis Communications Center, and Department of Public Works stand ready to assist our community during this weather event.
BE SAFE and we wish each of you a very merry Christmas and a happy New Year.
